Did you know? despite a common myth petting your chao or increasing its happiness doesn not hasten its evolution time. It generally takes about 3 in game hours for chao to evolve. However you can manipulate what alignment of chao by petting them with certain characters (in sonic adventure) Petting with Dark characters VS Hero characters (beneath is a timeline with a dark chao to neutral chao to hero chao from left to right) Fun fact: as the chao get closer to becoming an adult chao it will take on atributes of what type of chao it will be as well based on coloration, horns, and emotion ball color

This determines their behavior in the garden and whether they reincarnate or not Intellegence and luck increase when given an animal or chaos drives. they determine performance during chao races. Intelligence determining how swiftly and correctly the chao completes a puzzle or opens a jack in the box, luck (only in teh dreamcast version) determines the chance of the jack in the box stunning the chao Fun fact: luck also helps chao increase zeal recovery rate in chao karate but also increases the amount of zeal a chao loses when missing an attack
